To support our strategic growth and emerging technology advancements and industry changes, we have an exciting and unique opportunity to join our Technical Training Team & AutoGlass Operations Senior Leadership Team in the role of Head of Technical Excellence and Training. In this role you will support the growth objectives of the AutoGlass® network by managing the technical skill development of both new and existing O’Brien® Technicians, and acting as a people leader to our Technical Trainers, providing leadership and line management support.
You will be responsible for developing and coordinating the delivery of technical training and for providing technical product and industry standards expertise and support to the business, including the design and assessment of best practice processes and tools. This function will be integral in exploring industry evolution and a changing landscape and will work closely with the Belron® technical team. You must be able to develop strong relationships and build trust with key stakeholders, hold an understanding of current business issues and spotlight areas, and a knowledge of emerging technologies and industry trends.

This role will also champion and promote industry and technological changes to ensure we maintain our technical advantage within the sector. This role will provide expert advice and analysis around future technology and innovations within the AutoGlass industry and drive business success through innovative and targeted training solutions. Building strong business relationships with technology suppliers and technical teams for vehicle manufacturers will be an essential aspect of this role.

About the role:
• Conceptualise and assist in the development of objectives, strategies and plans aimed at achieving business growth, stakeholder and customer satisfaction and the efficient use of O’Brien® resources (technical equipment and people)
• Identify and discuss organisational successes and challenges with internal and external stakeholders
• Conduct an overview of O’Brien® current systems, technologies, training programs and structures to assess whether these are fit for purpose and evaluate their effectiveness both now and moving into the future
• Direct and influence stakeholders, including clients, towards more efficient solutions in the technical space, including ADAS
• Advance the rollout of solutions to enhance our recalibrations business - AsTech technology and OEM development of remote solutions
• Discussing current systems and procedures for technical training with staff in the Technical Training Team and broader AutoGlass Network, observing systems at all levels of the business and making appropriate recommendations
• Undertaking and reviewing existing and proposed methods and procedures for technical training
• Recording and analysing O’Brien® workflow, records, reports, manuals and job descriptions, specifically as they relate to the Technical Training Team, including Technical Trainers, Training Managers and Mechanics
• Prepare and recommend proposals to revise O’Brien® methods, procedures and workflows as and where necessary, which may include redefining job functions. This will contribute to resolving organisational problems
• Lead a team to implement the approved recommendations, including developing and issuing revised instructions and procedure manuals, communicating with Service Centre Managers, Network Area Managers and Operations Leaders, and delivering hands on training in Service Centres
• Reviewing operating procedures of Technicians performing repair and replacement of glass and advising the business of departures from the procedures and standards
• Ensure adherence to the "Belron Way" of fitting and training, maintaining consistency and quality in all service operations.
• Electric Vehicle Diagnostics - stay updated with the latest developments in electric vehicle technology. Provide expert diagnostic support for electric vehicles to identify and resolve issues efficiently and safely
• Build and maintain strong business relationships with technology suppliers and technical teams for vehicle manufacturers

Must haves:
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or at least 7-10 years of experience within the glazing industry
• Ability to evaluate existing diagnostic processes and systems to identify gaps and areas for improvement
• Ability to develop and implement strategies to enhance diagnostic coverage for various vehicle makes and models
• Bring your genuine passion for delivering quality service and leading the team to success
• Design and delivery of training solutions to meet current and future requirements
• Focus on technological innovations and advancements occurring in the VGRR and ADAS industries
• Implement and lead key success measures
• Manage and maintain stakeholder relationships
• Lead, coach, support and develop the Technical Training Team
• Management of schedules of work
• Establish, lead and grow key mentoring programs

About you:
• Proven leadership and technical experience in the VGRR sector and recalibration space
• Ability to engage and influence people, building effective and beneficial relationships
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, and experience with technical conversations
• Excellent communication skills with plenty of energy and the ability to work collaboratively within a team technical experts
• The ability to identify training opportunities and develop solutions accordingly
• Proven experience in vehicle diagnostics, with a focus on ADAS systems and electric vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of diagnostic tools, software, and equipment.
• Familiarity with automotive testing and calibration equipment
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent training and presentation abilities.
• Outstanding facilitation skills and the ability to provide group training
• Ability to motivate teams and drive success
• Experience in the Belron Way of Fitting – our highly specialised way of repairing and replacing glass (highly regarded)
• Overarching knowledge of and genuine interest in the automotive industry and emerging technologies, and ability to conceptualise and build training solutions
• Flexibility and willingness to travel as required
