About the Role
You will have the opportunity to coordinate a large undergraduate subject, contribute to curriculum development and teaching innovations, and conduct research in your area of expertise including teaching and learning-related research. The main subject you will be responsible for - Today's Science Tomorrow's World - adopts an interdisciplinary approach to investigate how today’s science might be harnessed to address significant challenges of climate change and environmental sustainability. You will be working closely with a team of interdisciplinary Lecturers and Senior Tutors that participate in the delivery of the subject.

Your responsibilities will include:

Subject coordination, curriculum review, delivery of high-quality teaching and learning, academic mentoring of students
Coordinate the School’s undergraduate teaching programs – specifically the large first year subject, Today’s Science Tomorrow’s World - including for example subject administration, preparation of lectures, practicals and student tutorials and group work
A level B academic should display evidence of potential for research excellence and a willingness to engage fully and creatively with education and leadership
Who We Are Looking For
We’re looking for people who demonstrate ability in interpersonal and organisational skills including the ability to project manage, meet deadlines, and interact with colleagues from a broad range of disciplines in a collegial, respectful and effective manner.

You will also have:

A PhD in geography, earth science, atmospheric science or cognate discipline.
Ability to teach broadly into undergraduate science subjects and courses focused on your area of expertise.
A commitment to delivering undergraduate and/or graduate teaching programs

The School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences synergises discipline strengths in geography, atmospheric science and geoscience. The School offers undergraduate and graduate research programs in these core discipline areas, and in the multi-disciplinary fields of Climate Change, Environmental Science and Archaeological Science.

The research within the School is built upon extensive expertise in geography, geoscience and atmospheric science, ranging from the social sciences through to the quantitative physical sciences.
