Production Manager

As a member of the Site Leadership team you will report directly to the Site Manager and have full accountability for the operations division of this site across three shifts, including 24/5 and 24/7 operations.  As Production Manager, you will be supported by Safety, Maintenance, HR, and Quality peers, and will have responsibility for daily operational tasks and facilitating activities that lead to greater efficiencies and effectiveness of the site operation. 

The Production Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategies for the operations on site in order to achieve agreed business goals. 

An engaging and natural people leader, you will be responsible for the overall management and performance of end-to-end operations, producing approximately 20,000 tonnes of recycled resin per annum. The focus of the role at this Greenfields site, is to build a culture that has a strong Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence mindset driving towards achieving KPIs within: 

  • WHSE 
  • Quality 
  • Leadership 
  • Delivery on time 
  • Cost, budgets and cost reduction projects 
  • Employee engagement 

These KPIs are achieved by providing strong leadership, guidance, and resources to Production (i.e. Shift leads, Team Leaders and Team Members).  In partnership with the Site Leadership team, the Production Manager is also responsible for aligning Continuous Improvement initiatives with the businesses strategic objectives and providing strong leadership to enable the implementation and maintenance of strong plant performance. The role liaises closely with all other functions of the business, collaborating to achieve business goals. 

You will work closely with your peers to ensure:

  • The highest level of safety is achieved 
  • Manufacturing activities are maintained to the highest standards, to achieve the most effective outcome in support of customer requirements and the business objectives 
  • All products are made on time and to specification 
  • Productivity meets and continues to challenge established standards. 
  • A culture of Continuous Improvement  
  • Open, direct, and respectful communication is practiced across the site  
  • Work closely with Maintenance, Quality and WHSE to ensure the world class standards and practices are achieved.  

Other responsibilities include,

  • Managing daily and weekly production schedule to achieving optimum production efficiencies and DIFOT
  • Monitor and report on operational KPI’s and initiate corrective actions via continuous improvement activities.
  • Build the capability of the Talent within the business to ensure the long-term capability of meeting future needs
  • Support the Site Manager to build and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders, ensuring contractual compliance in service delivery

Your skills and experience

  • Visible belief and demonstrated leadership in driving a Zero Harm culture
  • Tertiary qualifications (Business/Science /Engineering or Manufacturing) ideally
  • Working knowledge of SAP/MS Office suite
  • Demonstratable experience in a similar role within plastics and/or recycling is desirable
  • Collaborative and enabling approach, with a proven ability in dealing with a range of stakeholders (Customers, Suppliers, External bodies and auditors)
  • Unrelenting focus on quality output that meets customer expectations
  • Strong communication skills with a proven ability
  • Lean operations experience including utilisation of industry 4.0 technology would be advantageous
  • Tertiary qualifications (Business/Science /Engineering or Manufacturing) ideally
