About Your Role

Our Above Water Systems team provides engineering & maintenance services to Royal Australian Navy vessels and commerica ships. We’re proud to bolster Australia’s sovereign capability through operational support to our defence partners. With ongoing training programs and a team of over 500, our people have room to grow and develop an impactful career with us.

Located centrally in Woolloomooloo's Garden Island, on Gadigal land your role purpose will be:

  • Act as a key business partner to senior leaders in Above Water Systems operations, aligning business goals with HR strategy
  • Offer expert guidance on policy interpretation and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory frameworks
  • Provide specialist advice on program/project changes, ensuring compliance with Fair Work requirements
  • Coach managers and senior leaders to enhance team performance, culture, and continuous improvement
  • Drive annual HR activities such as remuneration reviews, talent reviews, and performance management, while supporting ad-hoc HR projects and initiatives

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualification/s coupled with previous experience in a similar HR or ER advisory role, ideally supporting both remote and on-site stakeholders
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, demonstrated HR systems skills and the ability to interpret complex data when required
  • Experienced in providing generalist advice and support to diverse stakeholder groups across areas such as;
  • employee advice, line manager support, guidance on employee agreements, performance management and other generalist support
  • Skilled communicator, strong customer service skills and a collaborative approach to stakeholder partnerships
  • Well-developed HR generalist knowledge, well-developed problem-solving capabilities and an analytical approach in your ability to achieve outcomes through people
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure within fast-paced environment
