How you will make an impact As a Scientist at Cabrini, you will have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience within our Pathology Department and further develop your skills within a multi-disciplined team. Our team is committed to maintaining the highest professional standards and participate in training and ongoing education in Biochemistry, Blood Bank and Haematology. Primary responsibilities will include the following:
Ensuring specimens are processed efficiently and results are reported accurately
Referring any abnormal results to the senior scientist or pathologist as appropriate
Performing calibrations and testing on analysers or manually to obtain results
Maintaining a high level of customer service to both internal and external clients
Performing data entry and documenting any incidents or complaints on Riskman
Maintaining compliance with all relevant procedures and confidentiality
What you will bring to the role Along with a demonstrated team, quality and customer service focus, the successful candidate will have the following:
Bachelor of Applied Science (MLS) or equivalent
Membership of AIMS or AACB preferred
Experience in a Pathology laboratory and knowledge of pathology testing requirements
Well developed interpersonal skills and a professional approach
Ability to prioritise workload, perform duties without supervision and work well within a team
An understanding of quality control and quality assurance programs
Knowledge of NATA accreditation requirements and ISO15189 system requirements
Capability to troubleshoot errors and resolve the cause of analytical errors
Ability to interpret and authorise results to a level consistent with training and take appropriate action with abnormal/urgent results
