About You


Senior Investigator, in Central Complaints & Investigations will be  responsible  for  delivering  quality  resolutions to complaints and investigations across staff, student and third party complaints in line with RMIT policies and processes within the business of the University.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering professional complaints and investigation management solutions in a large complex organisation. 
  • Demonstrated experience as a subject matter expert managing complex stakeholders involved in the complaints and investigation process.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including negotiation, influencing skills, client correspondence, reporting writing and presentation skills. 
  • Proven ability in providing accurate and timely resolutions to investigations through multiple channels.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding in managing cases of misconduct, specifically experience regarding investigations of bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, disputes, grievances, theft & conflict of interest.  Must have good understanding and experience regarding how unfair dismissals, general protections claims, ill and injured workers and managing performance will impact the conduct investigation process. 
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and to prioritise multiple tasks to meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust to deal with sensitive and difficult situations in a diplomatic manner.
  • Proven ability in the use of a range of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Programs and the ability to quickly learn new  technologies.  Desirable but not essential is  experienced  with ServiceNow, SAP and Workday.
  • Demonstrated   experience   in   driving   continuous   improvement   in   managing   complaints   and investigations.
  • Highly experienced, resolution focused individual who has a passion for delivering outstanding customer service.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.

About the Portfolio

The Governance, Legal, Operations & Strategy team (within the Operations Portfolio) is responsible for the full range of governance & legal services to all teams of the RMIT University Group. The team have expertise in policy, privacy, contracts, legal advice and complaints management.
