About Perth Racing
The Western Australian Turf Club (trading as Perth Racing) has a remarkable history of hosting thoroughbred horse racing for nearly 160 years. Perth Racing is a multi-faceted racing, entertainment and event business. At our two premier metropolitan tracks, Ascot Racecourse and Belmont Park, we host around 95 race meetings every year as well as frequent non-raceday events.

The role
Working in conjunction with the Facilities Manager as their 2IC, this full-time leadership role is responsible for organising and coordinating the operational management and directing and overseeing a large team of Facilities Attendants to ensure the delivery of quality facilities to adequately accommodate significant numbers of patrons of Perth Racing. The Facilities 2IC is also responsible for managing and sustaining a safe and productive environment for all patrons of Perth Racing.
A key focus of the role is to provide support to the Food & Beverage Team with the set up and pack down of race day and non-race day events and functions at Ascot and Belmont Park Racecourses.

Primary duties
The Facilities 2IC undertakes the following duties and responsibilities:
• Plans, organises, co-ordinates and oversees administrative and operational activities of Perth Racing’s facilities, including directing the moving and setting up of:
o furniture (tables and chairs);
o umbrellas;
o bookie stands;
o temporary fencing inside and outside grandstand.
• Co-ordinates the implementation of repairs, maintenance and renovations, as well as compiling reports on operating expenses.
• Ensures the presentation, maintenance and keeping in order of grounds or enclosures at Perth Racing.
• Manages the day-to-day operations of casual staff and provides instructions and guidance to Casual Facilities Attendants on what, when and how to perform their duties.
• Demonstrates leadership and motivates their team to achieve objectives.
• Oversees and ensures Perth Racing facilities, within their remit, are presented to a consistently high standard and within allocated timeframes.
• Delegated responsibility for hiring and training other Facilities Attendants, scheduling workloads, resolving operations problems, monitoring the quality of work produced and counselling staff for performance and work-related matters.
• Performs work in a safe manner and in accordance with Perth Racing values and policies and procedures.

Skills and experience
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual with the following skills and experience:
• Certificate III in Facilities Management (desired)
• Previous facilities management experience
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Sound planning, project management and budgeting skills
• Ability to lead and coordinate a large team
• Ability to work as part of a team or independently to achieve objectives
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively to meet time frames
• Capable of identifying hazards and taking immediate action and then reporting to relevant parties
• Physically capable of performing the inherent requirements of the role

Perth Racing Offering
An annual salary of $70,000 plus super will be on offer to the right candidate based on skills and experience.
