What You Will Be Doing
Assemble metal parts to fabricate production machines and other equipment. They will use a range of tools and engineering techniques to maintain and repair mechanical machinery and equipment to operational standards. They test and identify defective or worn mechanical components or equipment. Mechanical fitters also use precision measuring instruments to check parts for accuracy and fit.
Fitter fabricates, installs and repairs heavy machinery. Working to a set of precise specifications, they operate tools and machines to grind, mill and shape raw materials into the specified form, then assemble the final product.
